Tabatha Fitzgerald
Tabby Fitzgerald is a Southport High School and Franklin College grad. She doubled majored in multimedia journalism and public relations and graduated in December 2022, a semester early. She is from the south side of Indianapolis and the first in her family to pursue a college education.
Fitzgerald has had a passion for writing since she was 5, when she enjoyed writing short fiction stories and had dreams of being a bestselling author.
In high school, she got involved in the school newspaper, for which she was the lead writer. She held this position for two years while also interning with the Southsider Voice, a local paper.
Fitzgerald worked for The Statehouse File as a reporter and photographer in college. While holding this job, she was also a Student Communications Specialist for the Franklin College Admissions Office, a photographer for the Franklin College Marketing Department, a content producer of the Chapel Chats Podcast, a social media manager for various organizations (The Franklin, The Statehouse File and Samantha’s Hair Care) and held multiple positions on The Franklin (reporter, photographer, designer, photo editor and co-executive editor). Fitzgerald is grateful that Franklin College's liberal arts experience gave her the opportunity to expand her skill set while learning about other fields of work such as Biology, Religion, and Math.
Fitzgerald has always had a love of volunteering and helping others. She loves that journalism gives her the power to give a voice to the voiceless. The summer after her sophomore year, she was approached about an internship with CICOA on the north side of Indianapolis. At this internship, she was able to work closely with the communications department and Dementia Friends to create and run a newsletter while also attending events such as Memory Cafes to take photos for social media.
Fitzgerald has also interned at SpringHill. At SpringHill in the summer of 2022, she was the marketing intern. Fitzgerald was able to use her passion for communications to help manage their social media accounts, and assist with emails, website, and content planning to spread the message of the gospel. She loved this experience because she could use her communication skills to tell important stories about the community and how God has impacted people's lives.
Fitzgerald was the Media and Marketing Coordinator at Emmanuel Church where she continues to spread the gospel's message through photography, social media and storytelling. In her two years there, she created and led a photography team of 14 people, sent out monthly newsletters, ghost wrote for the lead pastor, managed and created content for their social media, assisted on various video shoots, and more.
Fitzgerald currently is the Online Editor/Social Media Manager for The Southsider Voice, a local newspaper located in Indianapolis. There she manages their Facebook and Instagram accounts while uploading stories to their website. She also is the Digital Marketing Coordinator at The Eiteljorg Museum in downtown Indianapolis. There she manages all social media accounts (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok), the website and email newsletter.
Fitzgerald is now looking to start offering freelance social media and photography services.
